Update on Education Programs – ECHOES is signed!

Entry: Charlie Feezel

We are very happy to announce that late last month WCF and USAID finalized their agreement for the Empowering Cocoa Households with Opportunities and Education Solutions (ECHOES) Alliance. The launch of will bring advances in the quality and relevancy of education for thousands of youth and young adults in cocoa growing communities in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. We’re very pleased that, in addition to WCF and USAID, ECHOES is supported by Cloetta Fazer, ED&F Man Cocoa, Kraft Foods, Mars Incorporated, the Norwegian Association of Chocolate Manufacturers, Olam International Ltd., Starbucks Coffee Company and The Hershey Company. Interest has been so high that perhaps additional investments will allow ECHOES to become a program of more lasting value to cocoa growing communities. We hope more companies and organizations will join us.

Jane Uebelhoer:

How might I find out the size of the donations that each of the donor organizations has made to ECHOES? I would also like to see a budget for the program that makes clear what percentage of the donated money will be spent in the field to accomplish the program's objectives.

Thank you,
